Please tell us about your current job and how it came about!
I am currently in charge of "Study Sapuri Career" at Recruit, where I work to help high school students make better career choices. My main job is career liaison, which involves visiting high schools and inquiring about the classes and events related to career paths that the school is running, and then providing guidance on how to use teaching materials that are appropriate for that school. I also give lectures in front of students during career classes, such as research time, where I help students research universities and open campuses. I am currently in charge of high schools in Niigata and Nagano prefectures, and sometimes visit three to four schools in a day.
During my time at university, I was involved in several projects, including the Open Campus staff and the Eiyukai, and while meeting a variety of people, I felt that even different organizations could create new value and enjoyment by working together. This experience led me to want to work in a position where I could be the initiator and connect things and people to create value. During my job search, I learned about Recruit's ribbon model and thought, "This is what I want to do!", so I joined the company and have been there ever since.
Please tell us about your university life!
I started working as an open campus staff member in my third year of university. At the time, the open campus events were run through programs set by the university, but I thought that we could improve the events by coming up with our own programs and promoting them, so I started the "Student Public Relations Staff"3. Through my work, I witnessed students who enrolled with a strong sense of purpose, rather than simply deciding on their career path because they "participated in the open campus and discovered what they wanted to do!" This made me realize that I wanted to increase the number of high school students making such positive career decisions. This was one of the reasons why I applied to work in Recruit's "Learning Project" when I joined the company.
In the Murayama Seminar of the Management course I belonged to, we applied to business contests every year. In my third year, the student division of the business contest GIA (Gunma Innovation Award) began, and I thought, "I want to stand on that stage!" so I applied. Gathering, selecting, and synthesizing information without any experience or knowledge was a very difficult part. I was particularly particular about the presentation, and I realized and learned the importance of having a purpose and paying attention to details in order to communicate effectively. In the seminar activities, I had many opportunities to be asked "why," and each time I conveyed my own thoughts and continued to put them into practice, which has been very useful in my current job.
Finally, please give a message to high school students and juniors!
I believe that small interests such as "this might be fun" or "I wonder if I should give it a try" will lead to meeting various people and having a variety of experiences. At KYOAI GAKUEN UNIVERSITY, each student has many opportunities to take on new challenges. This is because the university bets on the curiosity and enthusiasm of its students and allows them to take on new challenges. For me personally, the "try it first" mentality that I accumulated every day during my university life is the foundation of who I am today.
