Counseling Room/Consultation System
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Promotion Office (DE&I Promotion Office)
The DE&I Promotion Office is based on the spirit of mutual love and coexistence, and aims to ensure that people with diverse characteristics and values, such as gender, age, nationality, race, illness, disability, and sexual diversity, respect each other and live together. Our specialists and school social workers are available to provide advice on all aspects of education, future career paths, relationships, mental health, financial issues, and more.
*DE&I stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Rational consideration
Reasonable accommodation means making necessary and appropriate changes and adjustments on an individual basis so that students with special needs can exercise their right to an education, regardless of their illness, disability, or other background, and does not impose an unbalanced or excessive burden on universities and other institutions in terms of their structure or finances. It also guarantees equal participation in the opportunities available to students, and does not require changes to the nature of education or evaluation standards. (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Report of the Study Group on Academic Support for Students with Disabilities (First and Second Summary)
Our university will discuss with the applicant (student) the details of reasonable accommodation based on the individual disability, symptoms, class content, etc. Students who wish to request reasonable accommodation will need to submit an application form, so please first consult with the Student Center.
office hour
There are no staff rooms at universities. Each professor has their own laboratory where they prepare for classes and conduct research. When students have something they want to consult with a professor, they knock on the professor's lab. However, professors are not always in their labs because they have classes, meetings, or off-campus research.
The best thing about our university is the rich communication between students and teachers. In order to cherish this, we have established a system called office hours. Office hours are set days and times when teachers are in their labs so that students can easily visit. Each professor has their own office hours, and they will be in their labs during those times, so please feel free to visit them.
Other consultation counter
Our university has many other systems in place where you can get advice.
At the Student Center, you can get advice on anything related to student life. Please consult the Health Office for health-related matters, the Career Center for career paths and job hunting, and the Teacher Support Office for those aiming to become teachers.
You can consult the Foreign Language Center about language learning and studying abroad, the English Academic Peer Tutors about English learning, and the Information Processing Center's IT support about computer operation and other matters.
In addition, our university has a system in place where each student is assigned a teacher who acts as an advisor, and students can consult with their advisor about what classes they should take, what their future career path should be, what they should study, and so on.
The first-year advisor is a teacher in charge of basic exercises (basic seminars) and will support students as an advisor until their second year.
In the third year, your advisor will be the professor in charge of the assignment exercises (seminar), and in the fourth year, your advisor will be the professor in charge of your graduation research.
Each teacher is responsible for a few to around 10 students per grade, allowing them to provide individual consultation and guidance.
In addition, you can use the Speak Up consultation system to ask for advice, send your opinions to the university, and receive responses.
